Memories of Halloween Costumes

I was going to be Princess Evening Star! The excitement of the coming evening was almost too much to bear and the pressure I put on my Mother to hurry was extreme. My dress was white with little silver stars all over it. But, the best part of the costume was my star wand (in reality it was a cardboard star with aluminum foil). It was a magic wand and I can remember granting wonderful wishes to my imaginary friend. We hit the neighborhoods with determination. This was going to be a wonderful Trick or Treat evening with lots of candy to show for our efforts. It was fun and scary passing the other kids out for the evening. Some homes offered hot chocolate or candy apples, others had homemade cookies. No matter what the treat was, for me it was an evening of being Princess Evening Star.
